War thoughts in no particular order
1. I'm not cheering or celebrating until the hostages are actually home.
2. What now? What about terrorism in the West Bank? That's just going to get worse. And Iran? What about Qatar and Turkey and their Muslim Brotherhood crap?
3. People - learn about the Muslim Brotherhood. Follow Yasmin Mohammed, she has an excellent podcast. Follow Dalia Zaida on LinkedIn. Follow "Syrians love Israelis" on Instagram. Understand the middle east.
4. How long before I stop hearing sirens everywhere?
5. At first I refused to buy a hostage pin, t-shirt, necklace or anything like that because I don't buy temporary things as a rule. Eventually I bought a pin and the money went to the Hostage Family Forum. Would I have acted differently if I knew this was going to last two years?
6. When Yossi came home the first time (after he was drafted on Oct 7th, 2023), he said he heard the army estimated that the war would last three to six weeks. I was horrified because that sounded like forever, most wars here last a week or so.
7. It's been two years and I never visited hostage square in Tel Aviv.
8. Biggest takeaway: humans can get used to anything.
